Collecting links and saving videos are related tasks, but downloading and saving are different stages. Our URL Grabber extension exports open tab URLs and headings, then queues accessible video URLs from those tabs.
The download and installation page includes the v1.6 source ZIP. Chrome displays the installed extension as Incognito Tab Exporter. This is a manual installation, not a Chrome Web Store listing.
1. Install and review access
Extract the ZIP into a permanent folder. Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode and use Load unpacked to select the folder containing manifest.json. Reload an existing installation after updating its files.
The extension requests tabs, storage, scripting, downloads, webRequest, clipboardWrite and contextMenus permissions, plus access to all websites. Review these before enabling it. Incognito access is optional and must be enabled separately if you want that workflow.
2. Start with a fresh results page
Click the toolbar button to export the tabs. Close old results pages after an extension update and start a fresh export. Choose one to five parallel transfers and, optionally, a destination folder inside Downloads. Click Download videos once and leave the results page open.
3. Understand the queue
A network transfer occupies a slot while it fetches the video. Once all bytes are buffered, that slot can start the next queued video while Chrome handles the earlier file's save. A pending save confirmation therefore does not need to stop the whole network queue.
DOWNLOADING shows received bytes and, when a usable total is available, a percentage. BUFFERED means the network transfer finished but Chrome has not yet confirmed the save. Only successfully saved items are removed from the URL list.
4. Handle failures and cancellation
Temporary transfer failures retry with increasing delays, up to 25 attempts. Authentication/access errors and invalid responses are reported as failures. STOP aborts transfers and cancels saves with an assigned download ID. If a filename dialog is already open but has no download ID, dismiss it yourself.
Keep the results page open until saving finishes: buffers are temporary and do not survive a reload or browser closure. Large batches may use substantial browser resources; start with a small batch and conservative concurrency.
What this downloader does not promise
Use it only for media you are authorized to save. Requests may include existing website credentials, but the extension does not bypass access checks or site concurrency limits. Giving a file an .mp4 extension does not transcode its contents. Some sites do not expose a compatible direct video URL.
What we tested
On October 24, 2026, all seven queue regression tests passed: transfer-slot release during save delays, the five-transfer ceiling, stopping, temporary versus permanent failures, progress reporting and incomplete-transfer handling. The tests use simulated browser/network behavior; live site authentication and native save prompts still need browser-specific checks.
